Recovering Christ

I have been thinking about how we recover Christ, by recover I mean to reclaim Christ in the simple, humble and gentle way he walked this earth.  I have come to the conclusion that nothing short of a very serious deconstruction will do and here a just a few I think need some serious deconstructing.

#1   Biblical Idolatry.

#2  Sins as the primary focus of mans contribution to creation and the future.

#3  The Weekly Worship of the murder of Christ.

#4  The Weekly Worship of God for the murder of Christ.

#5  Guilt, Self condemnation and Sin confession as the primary means of demonstrating worth to God.

#6  The idea that the spiritual life is about personal salvation and deliverance from a certain preordained fate.

#7  The fixation by some of the End of the World and humanities inability to make this world a better place without divine intervention, death and destruction

Genesis 1:28-30 The Message

26-28 God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them
reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.”
God created human beings;
he created them godlike,
Reflecting God’s nature.
He created them male and female.
God blessed them:
“Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”

29-30 Then God said, “I’ve given you
every sort of seed-bearing plant on Earth
And every kind of fruit-bearing tree,
given them to you for food.
To all animals and all birds,
everything that moves and breathes,
I give whatever grows out of the ground for food.”
And there it was.
