So I was meeting some people at the local breakfast spot here in Lovely Anza California and some one asked me if the end was near. There was a time I would have jumped in with both feet at the asking of such a question. I would have said off course it is, Jesus is coming soon and its the end of the world as we know it.
Instead like the prophet Jeremiah I found myself saying no it’s not the end of the world, and you should redouble your effort to live your life to the fullest. Now these guys I was meeting knew I was a Pastor and they where a little surprised by my answer. They where waiting for the threat of doomsday and then do you want a ticket out of the coming Armageddon.
Instead a very interesting thing happened I had their undivided attention while I shared God’s vision for a world of Peace, Love and Brotherhood. I noticed the younger man was very interested in the idea of making a difference in this world, while we wait for coming Kingdom of God. That God is a God of transformation and healing and is looking for Partners in creation, rather than observers and preachers of Armageddon.
Come to think of it maybe it is the end of the world as we perceived it and maybe that is a good thing.
